Taking the Cake (Out)

Full disclosure:  I don’t love German Chocolate Cake.  For years, it was a favorite of both my husband and my father, so for many birthdays I found myself dutifully trying to bake the perfect cake for the men in my life. My problem is that I never could master the moist cake part.  It was always bone dry.  Of course, we all know that the best remedies for a dry cake are a good frosting and a hefty serving of ice cream.  Well, the German Chocolate Sundae combines the best elements of a German Chocolate Cake without the dry cake part getting in the way.  It’s chocolate ice cream with toasted coconut, caramel, and pecans.  Furthermore, it requires no baking, and you don’t have to do any dishes!  It’s available all of April for only $3.95, and you can enjoy it even if it isn’t your birthday month.
